Emily is collaborating with other members of SRG on an investigation into the formation of and the experiences within a chosen family for members of trans and queer communities. Her research interests also include global human rights and migration policy, and advocacy for the improvement of these policies for addressing the needs of members of the LGBTQIA+ communities. Emily is currently interning at the Child and Adolescent Data Lab where she uses the programming language R to perform textual analyses of data produced by the US child welfare system. Before starting the U-M MSW program, Emily worked as a case manager at a shelter for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Prior to that experience she received her BA degree with a concentration in Women Studies and a sub-concentration in Community Action and Social Change.
